Job Summary

Magmic is seeking a skilled 3D Character Animator with expertise in character animations specifically for mobile devices. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional communication skills and have prior experience working remotely. As part of the Production team, the chosen candidate will collaborate with the Art Director to develop animation for our 3D characters, while ensuring the project is completed within the stipulated timeline and budget. Additionally, the candidate should be able to actively participate in the entire creative process and adhere to established best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Art Director to deliver visually stunning and engaging animations that enhance gameplay
  • Work in partnership with UI artists, tech artists, and environment artists to develop artwork that enhances the visuals and gameplay of the game.
  • Possess a deep understanding of rigs, rigging set-ups, and animation pipelines.
  • Proficiency in integrating animation work into Unity is also required
  • The ability to comprehend and apply art references and mockups effectively is a must-have skill
  • Have a proactive approach to identifying potential risks and be able to communicate them effectively, while providing practical solutions. 
  • Creating and maintaining project processes and documentation, including status reports, is a key responsibility.
  • Skillfully adapt to change and manage expectations.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the production of 3D mobile games, with at least one 3D title released on mobile and/or console & PC.
  • Clear demonstration of work in real time, using Unity.
  • A traditional animation and/or art background.
  • Experience working in Atlassian workflows including JIRA tasks and Confluence to track project documents and status
  • Proven to be self-sufficient and proactive in organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Find opportunities for efficiencies in the art process.
  • Ability to prioritize and act on feedback in a timely manner.
  • Champion consistency, quality and visual integrity.
  • Self motivation and a collaborative team member.

Bonus Points

  • Good understanding of Cinemachine in Unity and how to integrate his animations.
  • Previous experience working with motion capture data.
  • Expert knowledge of sports, especially Baseball.
