Application Support Administrator

Kitchener, ON

Position Overview:

The City of Kitchener’s Asset Management & Business Solutions Division provides leadership and support to divisions throughout the organization. The Business Solutions – Work Management team working with operational teams from across the City focuses on the development and support of work management applications key to legislative compliance, data analysis, improved efficiency and service delivery excellence for system users. The Application Support Administrator performs a key role by providing customer facing support and services to users of the City’s work management and asset management solution, Cityworks, as well as application extensions and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, and administers Work Management systems and related databases.
  • Monitors system security and administers security access for work management applications.
  • Maintains specific interfaces between work management solutions and other Enterprise Systems or data points.
  • Maintains specific work management programs.
  • Maintains manuals, programming, reports, and databases.
  • Works closely with Database Administrator to resolve database issues and implement fixes.
  • Performs data integrity checks, data updates, and performance analysis.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves software, and system errors and malfunctions.
  • Works with the integration partner to resolve system and user issues.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve system errors and user issues.
  • Uses intermediate SQL programming logic to provide data extracts.
  • Recommends opportunities to improve daily operations.
  • Analyses data from the City’s financial system (SAP) and/or Human Resources Information System (PeopleSoft) in support of issue investigation and solutioning.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
  • Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
  • 3 year degree or diploma with specific training in computer systems design and database management.
  • 2 years' experience providing application and user support.
  • Experience working with Oracle SQL Navigator, diagnostic and database maintenance.
  • Experience in work process reengineering with an ability to problem solve.
  • Proficient and have proven related experience in the use of PHP, JavaScript, and/or Python programming language.
  • A positive and respectful attitude with the ability to participate as an effective and collaborative team member.
  • Proven highly developed interpersonal and customer relations skills with evidence of strong verbal and written acumen.
  • Developed skills in Crystal reports.
  • Must have a knowledge of relational database concepts and be proficient in SQL scripting.
  • Excellent organization skills and be able to prioritize and meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cityworks or similar GIS oriented work order management software as well as experience with integrated systems.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in municipal operational business processes dealing with support issues.

  • 2-Year Diploma (or 2-Year Specialized Post Secondary Program) with minimum 4 years’ related and relevant experience or 4-Year Honours Degree with minimum 1 year related and relevant experience
