Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Architect and working closely with the Enterprise Architects, the Architecture Analyst – Cloud focuses primarily on supporting the Technology and Cloud Architecture design, developing enterprise artifacts and providing guidance to preserve architectural integrity.   

 

The Architecture Analyst collaborates with stakeholders across the College to understand business needs, evaluate technological and cloud options, and recommend technological and cloud execution. The Analyst will support the development of a cloud governance framework to support decision making across the organization, ensuring an integrated, robust, secure, and cost-effective systems environment to achieve Centennial’s strategic goals. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports technical experts with the documentation of Application and Technology Architecture and reviews artifacts for conformance to established standards  
  • Keeps abreast of the latest educational technology offerings and emerging cloud technologies; recommends how to best incorporate advancements aligned with the College’s strategic goals into the existing architecture  
  • Works with business stakeholders and technical experts (e.g. DevOps, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure) alongside the Architects to analyze requirements, solution options, and sustainability plans to mitigate risks and ensure an integrated, robust, secure, and cost-effective architecture 
  • Reviews and evaluates architecture of existing systems and software products to identify reuse, platforming, and refactoring opportunities. 
  • Assists the Enterprise Architects with the design and construction of technology plans that support future business direction and provide an efficient and maintainable set of technology resources 
  • Supports the Architects with monitoring, updating, and executing against the Enterprise Architecture roadmap 
  • Creates, tracks and reviews architecture documentation; assists with editing of quality documents (SOPs, guidelines, project plans and roadmaps). 
  • Assists with the coordination of requests for Architecture services and the management of artifacts through governance committees
  • Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines for educational technology 
  • Promotes and improves stakeholders’ understanding of the rationale behind architectural decisions and their business value   
  • Provides technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to the teams in the implementation of established architectures and designs. 
  • Performs cloud risk assessments; establishes and enforces quality standards for cloud software architectures. 
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of efficient, secure design patterns and performance optimization in cloud solutions. 
  • Assist with projects in pre, during, and post-implementation phases by assessing proposals and designs for application, information and technical architecture compliance

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Three (3) year diploma or degree with a focus in Business Administration, E-Commerce and/or Computer Science. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Certificate for business analyst, business systems analysis, risk management framework (NIST) and/or cloud computing/strategy would be an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a systems analyst and/or cloud/technology systems analyst in information technology, together with experience in managing customer relationships and/or project coordination.
  • Experience within different areas of IT (Enterprise Solutions Team, Cyber Security, Information management and Privacy)
  • Demonstrated exceptional understanding of Cloud models and deployments
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Knowledge of IT governance, risk assessment methodologies and frameworks, IT service management (ITSM/ITIL).
  • Experience creating detailed documentation such as policies, procedures, flow charts, system documentation, data flow diagrams, and reports.
  • Experience analyzing cloud services and vendors and using a variety of tools and processes to accomplish analysis.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Shows strong initiative and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management, including with senior leadership. Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently as well collaboratively within a highly diverse team environment
  • Completion of courses in the following areas:
  • VMware Vsphere Administration
  • VMWare VDI Administration
  • Microsoft Exchange Administration
  • AD/LDAP and IDM Administration
  • Linux Enterprise Network Administration
  • Network Engineering
  • Data storage fundamentals
  • ITIL Certification
  • DevOps or Agile training courses
