Business Architect (2-year Contract)

Remote

The Business Architect leads and supports activities that develop specific strategies in response to business planning, sector trends, and potential disruptors. Collaborating with senior business stakeholders, peers in the Office of Enterprise Architecture, and the Information Technology department, the incumbent applies their knowledge and experience to understand Sheridan’s current state, identify a desired future state, and develop a practical plan to achieve that state through the enhancement or adoption of technology and the design of effective business process. The incumbent collaborates with the Project and Portfolio Management Office to initiate specific projects that align to the milestones identified in the overarching technology strategies the Office of Enterprise Architecture maintains.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining the current state business capability model – mapping how people, processes, and technologies support current business objectives and capabilities; and assessing opportunities in each of those dimensions.
  • Remaining aware of market and technology trends and disruptions, assessing them for impact and opportunity specific to Sheridan, and presenting recommendations to senior decision makers
  • Facilitating stakeholder conversations about the fit and opportunity of technology innovation ideas and their alignment to business need and strategy.
  • Reviewing business processes for inefficiency, waste, and misalignment to generally good practice; and design new, more effective processes.
  • Leading colleagues in the development of roadmaps that achieve targeted business outcomes and detailing the steps required to achieve them over a defined time horizon.
  • Developing recommendations for reuse of existing capabilities, investments in new capabilities, or modernization of existing capabilities that have a direct impact on business objectives.
  • Utilizing a toolbox of business architecture deliverables to help leaders in their decisions, including business-outcome-statements, strategy on a page, scenario planning, business capability modeling, value-stream mapping, business process models, ecosystems modeling, customer and user profiling, journey maps, human-centric design and investment roadmaps.
  • Working with peers and the Director to develop and enhance Enterprise Architecture practices at Sheridan
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
