This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests office. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Business Manager
$86,200.00 - $122,100.01 annually
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume.
The Business Manager oversees the delivery of a diverse range of financial management, human and physical resources and administrative services, ensuring the appropriate resources, policy practices and controls are in place. The Business Manager is responsible for establishing priorities, allocating resources and resolving issues affecting the Business Area.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in accounting, business administration, public administration or commerce, or CPA designation or government financial management certificate program and three (3) years of directly related experience in a financial or accounting role; OR,
- Post Secondary education equivalent to a degree or diploma and five (5) years of experience directly related to financial or accounting role; OR,
- Certificate, post-secondary education, and/or training in a related discipline (e.g. contract management, financial management, public administration, and/or business administration, etc.) with a minimum of seven (7) years’ related experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
- Experience in program administration including allocating resources, leading and coaching diverse teams and supervising staff.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in leading, developing, coaching and evaluating diverse teams within a union environment.
- Experience working in an environment requiring the interpretation and application of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) or government financial related legislation and policy (e.g. CPPM, FAA, BBMAA, and BTAA).
