The IT & Digital Solutions division of Elections Ontario is seeking a Business Quality Analyst to analyze business needs and requirements of Elections Ontario’s (EO) divisions and design detailed user-requirements and systems documentation. This individual will have experience in writing test cases and test scenarios.
What to expect in this role
Reporting to the Manager, DevOps, you will:
- Assess information technology and data/system requirements and needs of EO business units.
- Participate in sessions with the EO business units and ITDS project teams to gather, refine and document detailed business data, functional and non-functional systems requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive test cases to ensure software deliverables meet business and functional requirements and be responsible for design execution.
- Create, maintain, and modify test cases for new/existing software applications/releases that ensure comprehensive testing according to the software specifications.
- Anticipate potential software problems by creating exhaustive test scenarios that ensure comprehensive testing.
- Document and report all test results in conjunction with test plans and test cases.
- Collaborate with developers to resolve issues discovered during the SIT/UAT test process.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with peers in Business, Product, Technology and other Operational departments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing business/functional requirements and software technical specifications.
- Work with IT Project teams to develop defined requirements and testing artifacts.
- Support User Acceptance Testing and review test results to ensure specifications/requirements have been met.
- Log and manage defects found during testing.
- Report status of assigned activities during the project’s System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Work with project and product teams, aligning with overall EO test strategy and plan.
- Provide first level technical support to Production Users as required.
- Analyze and troubleshoot production issues as required.
What you need to qualify
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a quality assurance engineer/ tester in an Agile development environment.
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment with daily standups.
- Experience in manual, ad-hoc, functional, smoke and regression testing.
- Experience Testing mobile applications on different platforms.
- Experience creating, executing and maintaining test scenarios and test cases.
- Experience logging and tracking bugs (Experience with Testrail and JIRA is a plus).
- Experience in SQL is a plus.
- Experience in implementing configuration management processes.
- Knowledge of computer system technologies (operating systems, application software, testing tools, standard/commonly used and customized software, networks), Internet technologies and emerging technologies.
- Knowledge of the theory and principles of systems design and development, and related methods, techniques, practices and standards.
- Testing and product knowledge.
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
- Good client relationship and interpersonal skills.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Elections Ontario offers alternative work arrangements (Telework or Compressed Work Week). This position requires in-office presence 4 to 5 days per week, based on operational requirements.
