Moment Energy

Moment Energy is a cleantech company creating sustainable, affordable and performant energy storage systems by repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries. Their solution helps off-grid commercial customers reduce diesel consumption and transition to renewables, and also provides peak shaving and backup power for industrial customers.  Moment Energy is working with major automotive companies including Nissan as well as with a variety of utilities to take advantage of the 80% remaining capacity in EV batteries. The company’s mission is to repurpose all EV batteries for second-life use by 2030.

Moment Energy was recognized as the Grand Prize Winner of Canada’s 2021 National Impact Investor Challenge held by Spring Activator in June 2021. On October 4th, 2021, Moment Energy placed third in the 2021 New Ventures BC Competition, British Columbia’s largest annual tech startup competition presented by Innovate BC. The team carries experience from Tesla, Apple, Intel and is a MaRS, Foresight, and  Charles Chang Institute of Entrepreneurship company.
