Who we need:
Reporting to, and working in partnership with, the Senior Manager, Machine Learning and Data Science, we are looking for a Data Scientist. You will play an integral part in developing world-class advanced machine learning models and big data analytics capabilities at Scene+. As one of Canada's top loyalty programs; you will tap into our rich cross-industry data resources to bring proven value across our ecosystem and delight our 10 million + members.

As our new Data Scientist, you will:
- Make a measurable impact. You will play a key role in data science, advanced analytics, and predictive modelling initiatives focusing on marketing, customer experience and operations.
- Build. You will work across the full Machine Learning life cycle; data wrangling, feature engineering, model development and deployment. You will monitor the impact of deployed models, interpret results and derive learning for model evolution.
- Solve. You will work cross-functionally with business partners to find opportunities for relevant data science solutions. You will present results with partners, simplifying complex solutions in a digestible manner.
- Seek and apply the latest trends. You will research and stay up to date with data science technology and methodologies, bringing forward new ideas and approaches. You will challenge existing processes demonstrating improvement with versions enhanced by data science.
You bring:
- The expertise. You are a Data Scientist driven by curiosity and a passion for applying a strict scientific approach to find meaningful answers in the data. You have worked with big data sets in a customer-facing industry, with proven success in building machine learning models. You have experience with structured and non-structured data; and have worked at all stages of data science (problem definition, data acquisition and wrangling, modelling, and feature engineering and deployment). You have exposure to the Machine Learning lifecycle and statistical concepts.
- The technical skills. You can learn new tools independently and quickly. You are proficient in using one or more statistical programming languages (i.e., Python/Pyspark) for data science; have demonstrated experience writing complex SQL queries to extract and integrate data from multiple database sources; and have worked with open source libraries such as Kubernetes, Tensorflow, or PyTorch. You have worked with relational databases, big data platforms, data lakes (Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, or similar), and cloud infrastructure.
- Interpersonal skills. You can nurture relationships across internal and external teams: gaining trust to influence decisions. You have professional communication skills, including translating complex data science concepts and findings for different audiences and levels.
