Who we need

With new Azure cloud products on our roadmap and an eye on the future, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic DevOps Engineer to join our Technology team. You will be responsible for the continuous integration and continuous deployment of our lending and insurance platforms. You will play a critical role in the end-to-end delivery of an automated build, deployment, monitoring, and server infrastructure solution.

Who you are

You are a DevOps Specialist with an Engineering mindset. You are seeking an opportunity to be part of a new digital transformation to a cloud environment. You want to join a scaling tech solution and services company where you can apply your expertise to take ownership and influence the direction of the DevOps function, supporting product teams to ensure release deployment success and application health.

What's in it for you

A blank slate. This is a chance to be part of our exciting path forward as we change financial and insurance services across the country, introducing new and updated innovative proprietary technology solutions to our clients. You will be part of a new function with the opportunity to help define and drive your role and your work in an ambiguous environment where it's up to you to figure things out and keep things moving.

Cutting edge tools. We are playing in a new space, partnering with open banking services and credit unions. As a mid-sized company with the resources of a bigger organization and the responsiveness of a startup in the FinTech space, you will be part of a cross-functional Agile team, with your hands on the products immediately, building security, automation, and operations from scratch with the latest iterations of the best tools.

Career growth. You will have immediate learning opportunities through extensive onboarding as you dive in to understand the legacy products and roadmap for new products. You will step up to the challenge of building out and duplicating standards and workload design across the organization. This is a chance to start at the ground floor to develop the future of how these products are managed and ensure the processes are future-proof. You will have the opportunity to identify gaps, make changes, and influence our approach as we advance. With continuous learning opportunities, access to the latest technologies and tools, and direct mentorship, this is a chance to grow your career along a technical path or people management one.

What you will do

  • Be a DevOps champion. You will research and promote new DevOps capabilities, standards, and technologies, mentoring other engineers and technical analysts.
  • Release management. You will work closely with the Release Manager to coordinate product releases, deployments, and upgrades. You will document release processes and assist in developing and maintaining standards for release implementation.
  • Automate and execute deployments. You will:
  • Identify and design process automation opportunities to support CICD pipelines.
  • Build automated deployments using configuration management technology (new modules and upgrades) .
  • Integrate our automated test suite into an automated code pipeline.
  • Develop, implement and maintain TFS branching strategy for .NET projects (merging between branching, etc.) and create and maintain TFS automation for building, testing and deployment of all .NET projects.
  • Work with the QA team to perform and optimize ongoing daily QA deployments including the implementation, maintenance, and execution of deployment instructions for UAT/Staging/PROD environments.
  • Analyze current SQL Server deployments and create deployment automation for lower environments.
  • Analyze the current deployment process and provide ongoing deployment improvements.
  • Ensure that modules are production-ready following our SDLC processes.
  • Repair and maintenance. You will create requirements and procedures for implementing routine maintenance. You will build mechanisms that enable rapid recovery, repair, and cleanup of faulty migrations with a good understanding of fault tolerance and failure domains
  • Solution implementation and management. You will be responsible for compiling, installing and configuring solutions; and testing and monitoring across all levels of the application.

What you bring

  • The education and the experience. You have a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, though we know not everyone gains their skills through traditional academic pathways. You have 5+ years of progressive experience, including hands-on software design, development, testing, and implementation, as well as DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • The technical knowledge. You have worked with:
  • A cloud platform - Azure, AWS, or Google.
  • Configuration Management and Deployment tools.
  • Source Control and Continuous Integration tools (TFS).
  • Automating deployment of applications, system configurations, and security settings.
  • .NET Core, framework, and class library development experience.
  • Manual build and release pipelines.
  • Infrastructure in a Windows environment.
  • The collaborative skills. You can work autonomously and as part of an Agile team. You are ready to contribute wherever you can, guide junior team members, and support coding, QA, planning, and build and release activities. You have strong written and verbal skills

What the interview process involves

First, we’ll set up a call to get to know more about your background and answer any questions you have. From there, we’ll provide an opportunity for those that exhibit a high potential to be successful in our environment to demonstrate their technical capabilities and then talk shop with a panel of our engineers and leaders.

The Valeyo Way:

Through collaboration and innovation, everything we do at Valeyo is focused on people - those we help and those we hire.

It's #thevaleyoway to empower our people with autonomy to make decisions that align with our values, to treat each other with compassion focusing on what we can accomplish as a team; and to recognize our individual and collective efforts.

We share a passion and drive for success and are a proudly diverse team. Embracing our differences enhances everything we are involved in, from our social awareness as an organization, to our creative problem solving, to the communities we support.

We offer our team the best of both worlds: a fast-paced, innovative FinTech environment and an established organization. This includes:

  • A healthy, fulfilling work-life balance through a flexible hybrid work model, a Health and Personal Spending Account. Plus the comprehensive benefits and perks of a financially stable organization including Group Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with a company match for Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) and a generous paid-time-off policy including vacation, personal/sick time, wellness day and statutory holidays.
  • A continuously evolving people-first environment that takes time to have some fun (virtual team building events including scavenger hunts, charity drives, FitBit challenges, photo challenges, and virtual social events, including team lunches, and once we're able to safely do so, awesome potlucks, costume competitions, and karaoke battles) while providing access to professional development opportunities through training and educational assistance programs.
  • A bigger than us outlook. Every year we offer $1000 grants to students who are credit union members. It's just one of the ways we support financial opportunity and growth beyond our virtual walls and in the community.

If you have 70% of the qualifications we are looking for and want to be part of success, we encourage you to express your interest. We can't promise it will be a fit, but we do promise to consider your experience. Apply now.
