Electro-Mechanical/ Mechatronics Engineer

Electro-Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineers at Photonic design, develop, build, and test PLC control systems for our cryogenic systems. You will create and analyze designs, run simulations and test how components interact with other aspects of the system. You are a natural trouble-shooter, comfortable stepping up to identify and address system issues. You are an excellent communicator, comfortable working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists.


WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

  • Develop and implement PLC control systems for cryogenic and electromechanical systems, ensuring reliability and precision
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements for PLC-based control systems
  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design, adhering to industry standards
  • Take charge of electrical design, including schematic design and component integration
  • Utilize CAD software for 3D modeling, simulations, and detailed
  • Drive the successful integration, testing, support and improvement of our quantum systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, recommend and implement remedies
  • Analyze performance or test results and change the design or system as needed
  • Oversee and develop manufacturing processes


WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering-Physics or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of industry experience in a research and development environment, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proven track record of PLC system design and programming
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Outstanding teamwork skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills


Exceptional candidates will have:

  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks and PDM
  • Experience with vacuum or cryogenic systems
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Willing to go above and beyond for the success of the team


Bonus

Photonic is designing the world’s first quantum processor in silicon. It would be awesome if you had some familiarity with quantum physics, mathematics, and programming, but we will ensure that team members will have the opportunity to learn about quantum computing as we grow.

The base annual salary range for this full-time role is between $91,000 to $125,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside of this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's qualifications including relevant education and training, competencies, experience, geographic location, and business needs. Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
