Invest Ontario is seeking an Executive Director, Technology to establish Invest Ontario’s sales management and business development function.


This is truly an exciting opportunity to assume a leadership role in a new provincial agency with a strong mandate and tools to attract investment to Ontario.


Invest Ontario is a newly formed independent agency dedicated to securing private sector strategic business and capital investments that support economic development, resiliency, and job creation in Ontario, with an initial focus on the Advanced Manufacturing, Technology and Life Sciences sectors. The agency is mandated to identify, attract, and obtain strategic business investments and improve domestic and foreign direct investment attraction to the province through a customer-centric, proactive-lead generation approach. The Executive Director, Technology will play a vital role in the identification of new investment leads within the Information and Communication Technology sector, and selling Ontario as a destination for investment. Reporting to the VP, Business Development, the Executive Director, Technology will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of investment/investor programs and services to promote and sell the province’s strategic importance in order to negotiate and win large-scale investment deals in the sector. Working collaboratively with the regions to identify investment leads in sectors of key strategic interest to Ontario, the Executive Director interfaces with clients on initial engagements, findings of needs assessments, presentation of incentive packages, and negotiations. 

The ideal candidate brings a deep knowledge of the Information and Communication Technologies sector and has a demonstrated track record of building and maintaining relationships with investors and business partners in the sector. Highly respected by their peers, he/she is motivated to be at the heart of Ontario’s efforts to increase strategic investment, ultimately resulting in the creation of quality employment opportunities for Ontarians. Possessing superior relationship management skills, he/she will be a results and service oriented leader with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to analyze complex issues and put forth actionable solutions. A degree in a relevant discipline (Information Technology, Communications, Computer Science, etc.) is sought and an MBA would be considered an asset.
