Full Stack Developer, Internet Development

Business Overview:

The Internet Development Team is responsible for the development and application support of all Internet web applications, including a focus on mobile for Fidelity Canada in addition to developing and supporting our internal corporate web site.  We work closely with our business partners to deliver a superior online experience focusing on stability, performance, and service delivery.


Position Description:

The Full Stack Developer, Internet Development is responsible for creation and support for Fidelity Canada’s web properties.

This includes:

  • Assisting with designing, building, and implementation of new Web pages and sites
  • Integrating sites with back end systems/applications
  • Prototype web pages and sites as per Fidelity Investments web standards
  • Migrating legacy sites to leverage newer Web technologies
  • Works with the Web Designer in developing web pages and web sites
  • Works with other Java/J2EE developers in integrating/implementing web pages/sites
  • Performing day-to-day support of Fidelity Canada’s web portfolio


Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and applications in conjunction with the business and department managers
  • Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document Web applications
  • Update Web pages to ensure site accuracy and currency
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing Web applications and sites
  • Ensure security of all Web sites and related applications
  • Participate in the on-call rotation


Education & Experience:

  • University degree preferably in the field of computer science
  • Minimum 2 years of Internet Development work experience
  • Strong understanding of Internet programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, HTML/HTML5, XHTML, CSS, CSS3, jQuery and jQuery Mobile
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements
  • Experience with cross browser development and support for IE8, IE9, IE10, IE11, Firefox 32+, Safari 7.1+, Chrome
  • Responsive web design experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of urgency, tenacity and a desire to accomplish
  • Commitment to continuously evolve skills and keep up to date with latest technology


The following are assets:

  • Experience working with web services development
  • Bootstrap, AngularJS, rapid prototyping ,Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator experience
  • Content Management System experience would be an asset, specifically Adobe Experience Manager.
  • Prior Investment or Mutual Fund experience


Given the current circumstances, the resource will be working from home, 100% of time. As working conditions return to normal, they will be expected to be onsite.
