Full Stack Developer/Engineer (Java)

UA is looking for a passionate Full Stack Developer (Java) for our subscription-based website NHSLive.ca. UA looks for people who can grow, think, dream, and create. This is a full-time position located in Vancouver, BC.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • You will be part of a team creating new services and customer-facing applications using the latest technologies. 
  • Develop and support highly scalable, high performance APIs within an Agile development team. 
  • Ensure high code quality through automated unit and functional testing. 
  • Automate processes within the development pipeline; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reducing time-to-market and enabling continuous delivery. 
  • Design and develop code structures based on technical design. 
  • Work within an Agile product team comprised of technical, product and business team members to deliver exceptional products. 
  • Actively seek out knowledge about modern technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges. 
  • Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of continuous integration and deployment. 
  • Effectively communicate technical issues with technical & non-technical staff. 


Requirements 

Experience 

  • 3+ years of experience with Java, REST API/Micro services, Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Boot), Maven, SQL(PostgreSQL). 
  • Hands on experience designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting RESTful API and interface specifications (Swagger, SOAP, etc.) 
  • Recent experience with modern UI development using React. 
  • Solid experience designing and working with n-tier architectures (User Interface, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer) along with some experience with service-oriented architectures (SOA). 
  • Solid experience using Cloud technologies (Azure preferred) 
  • Experience in creating DevOps (CI/CD pipelines) processes. 
  • Experience with Jira is an asset. 
  • Previous experience or desire to learn about the residential real estate market and development industry. 

 

Skills 

  • Knowledge of web-based application architectures and frameworks (including React) and the way these integrate with services. 
  • Knowledge of security gateways and protocols (JWT, Oauth2.0, SSL Certificates) 
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing) 
  • Knowledge of Docker and Containerization (Kubernetes, k8s preferred) 
  • Experience with source control, automated builds, and build deployment. 
  • Agile methodology experience is an asset. 
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively and drive/manage change.  
  • Ability to swiftly adjust to changing priorities.  
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities.  
  • Organized and resourceful with strong research abilities, work ethic, and a positive attitude.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. 

 

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (i.e., computer science, engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.
