The Role
We are looking for a motivated and collaborative Intermediate DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Security and Infrastructure team. This position is open to remote work options in the following time zones: ET, CT, MT, and PT.
As a key contributor to our Engineering team you will be responsible for:
- Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
- Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying to developers
- Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
- Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing the results
- Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
- Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes
- Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
- Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions
Required Technical Skills:
- 2-5 years of relevant technical experience
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting
- Strong working knowledge of Git
- Strong working knowledge of a variety of AWS services
- Knowledge of Javascript, YAML
- Awareness of DevOps and Agile principles
Required Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- The ability to work without close supervision and thrive in an autonomous working environment that allows for high levels of freedom
Nice to have experience:
- AWS DevOps Engineer certification
In this role, at 3 months, you will have:
- A working understanding of Athennian’s technical operations; knowing where to find important information when needed
- The ability to handle 60-80% of technical operations issues related to Athennian’s infrastructure and coding
- Made simple changes to configurations without direct supervision
- Executed and provided test reports for changes occurring in the scope of the role
In this role, at 6 Months, you will have:
- A strong understanding of Athennian’s technical operations with the knowledge of where to find information when needed and how to fill in gaps where knowledge is missing or lacking
- The ability to handle 70-90% of technical operations issues related to Athennian’s infrastructure and coding
- Designed, executed, and provided test reports for changes occurring in the scope of the role
In this role, at 12 Months, you will have:
- A complete understanding of Athennian’s technical operations. With the knowledge about where to find information needed and how to fill in gaps where knowledge is missing or lacking, and ability to add and communicate new information
- The ability to handle 80%+ of technical operations issues related to Athennian’s infrastructure and coding
- Determined which changes need to be implemented, design, execute, and provide test reports for changes occurring in the scope of the role
