The Opportunity: 

 

We are seeking a talented Intermediate Frontend Developer to join our rapidly growing team and to help us with our goal of creating a waste-free future. 

As a Frontend Developer, you will work closely with our E-Commerce/Web team to help launch new digital products, promotions, and initiatives. You will be mentored by senior developers and exposed to exciting new technologies as we work towards improving our overall tech stack and ECommerce business.

 

The Responsibilities: 

 


  • Infrastructure and patterns. You will help define the patterns and ways in which the Pela Tech Team implements a high-performing e-commerce platform.
  • APIs and Plugins. Headless means APIs, you will be responsible for developing scalable solutions for consuming APIs from platforms like Shopify and DatoCMS and AWS Lambdas.
  • Translate requirements and mockups to Shopify using HTML/CSS/JS.
  • Manage Shopify apps and integrations.
  • Team development. As an experienced member of the team you’ll contribute to the code review process, and help set and maintain a culture of quality throughout the development process.
  • Work closely with designers to ensure the practicality and function of designs.
  • Execute online initiatives and promotions. You will work closely with marketing, Customer Experience, and Sales to help achieve technology initiatives.
  • Create and manage A/B tests in Google Optimize. You will help run experiments with the goal of improving site conversions and revenue.
  • Run extensive QA Each member of the team is responsible for their own work to ensure performance and consistency across key devices and browsers.

 

Qualifications:

 


  • Certificate or degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of front-end design patterns. You should be proficient in technologies like HTML, CSS and Javascript with some knowledge in languages like Java or Ruby.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug problems. You should be able to assess, understand, and discover where and how bugs arise in code.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. You’ll clearly and concisely communicate via Google Docs, Github, Slack, and Zoom to name a few.
  • Ready and willing to ask and answer questions. You’re comfortable saying you’re unsure and asking for help. You thrive and Pela thrives because of continuous learning.

 

Bonus Qualifications:

 


  • Experience using AJAX and JSON
  • Experience with React
  • You have optimized videos and images for performance
  • You are familiar with design tools. Tools like Sketch and Photoshop.
  • Experience with Shopify and Liquid templating languages
  • Experience with javascript toolchains and frameworks. Things like NPM, Webpack and React.

Salary: $62,000-$75,000
