We are looking for a Product Designer with UX/UI experience to ensure we deliver an effective, enjoyable product experience to users at the oilfield frontline and in head office.

JOB DESCRIPTION


Title: Product Designer

Reports to: Product Manager and Head of Product / CPO

Location: Remote (Edmonton, AB is head office)


Job Summary:

The main focus of your role as a Product Designer is to help ensure a highly usable product is discovered and shipped every release. Envisioning that experience comes from conducting product discovery with our users and team in a trio that consists of a Product Manager, a Product Designer, and a Technical Lead. Product Managers ensure the created product is viable for our business and valuable for our users. Product Designers ensure the created product is usable and an enjoyable experience for the user. Technical Leaders are in charge of feasibility and ensuring that the product we discover can be created in an acceptable time frame. 


As Product Designer, during product discovery, you would create lower fidelity mockups to brainstorm ideas, and as ideas get more validated, deliver a higher fidelity mockup to our engineering team for development. You understand that different approaches are necessary to create a captivating experience; therefore, coming up with multiple alternatives to a given problem is required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with your cross-functional team, actively participating in product discovery, and coming up with a usable, lovable product experience to a given problem.
  • Discover user needs and collect user feedback by conducting user research and user interviews and deliver findings effectively back to product team 
  • Create interactive mockups that serve as product discovery experiments
  • Coordinate and iterate with your product trio to ensure a technically viable, de-risked product is created
  • Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing customer preferences
  • Present product design ideas to cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Be available during product development when clarification is needed and guide engineers on mockups when clarification is necessary 
  • Identify new product improvement opportunities


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years experience in the following design phases:
  • Conducting user research
  • Wireframing
  • Prototyping
  • Visual design
  • Interaction design
  • Usability testing
  • Proven familiarity around UX best practices and usability
  • Track record of collaborating with cross-functional team members with openness to ideas and feedback to iterate on creating a great product 
  • Experience with collecting and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Excellent attention to detail
