The Field Operation Management unit of Elections Ontario is seeking a results-oriented and motivated Senior Data Analyst who plays a critical role in advancing Elections Ontario’s data-driven decision-making capabilities. This position focuses on analyzing complex data sets, applying advanced statistical methods, and leveraging data science techniques to extract meaningful insights that improve the organization’s capacity to deliver a modern electoral experience.
What to expect in this role
Reporting to the Manager, Field Operations management, you will
- Analyze large data sets from various sources from within the organization, identifying trends, patterns, and actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and help teams improve the elector experience.
- Apply advanced statistical models, predictive analytics, and data transformation techniques to support organizational goals.
- Develop clear and concise data visualizations, reports, presentations, and dashboards that effectively communicate insights to cross-functional teams and support leads in making operational and strategic decisions.
- Utilize geographic data sets to extract information and report on key business defined deliverables. Incorporate cartographic products into reports and dashboards that visually represent complex spatial information, enhancing our ability to analyze and communicate insights across all electoral districts in Ontario.
- Develop and implement robust methods to standardize and replicate metrics for use across the organization, ensuring consistency in data measurement and reporting.
What you need to qualify
- Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistical Sciences, Applied Math, Information Systems or related field. • 5+ years’ professional experience with advanced statistical data analysis, data transformation including integration, and visualization dashboards
- Skilled in finding insights and creative solutions to data challenges, developing frameworks for operational insights, and communicating results.
- Proven experience aggregating and automating data for display into Power BI dashboards by utilizing tools such as DAX, M, Python and R.
- Proven experience with relational database systems (i.e., SQL Server), and tools.
- Knowledge of GIS software and services (i.e., ESRI ArcGIS, FME) is an asset.
- Excellent presentation skills to clearly communicate key concepts, package complex ideas into logical, easy-to-follow progressions, to provide expert advice, explain data analysis, and make recommendations to non-technical audiences.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Elections Ontario offers alternative work arrangements (Telework or
Compressed Work Week). This position requires in-office presence 4 to 5 days per week, based on operational requirements.
