How you will make a difference:

  • Build. You will iterate on high-value data science projects, whether they need rule-based systems or the latest transformer-based models. You follow the Pareto principle to iterate and learn as fast as possible. You know when to use machine learning and how to apply it to our data, weighing the pros and cons of each method. You will also bring those machine learning pipelines to production (both batch and real time), following best practices around clean code.
  • Experiment. You will hypothesize and execute on machine learning experiments to help us bring scalability to our offerings, and competitive advantage to the business. Reproducibility and explainability will be key factors in the success of those experiments. Bonus points if you have worked on applied research projects before, or if you have expertise in transformer-based models and Pytorch.
  • Data understanding and cleaning. You will dig into the data and its meaning to inform which high-value data science products should be worked on. You will write minimal ETL workflows to get the clean data that you need.
  • Mentor. You will mentor and support junior members of the team in their growth path. You will be an active voice in improving the team’s processes and development.

What you bring to our collaborative space:

  • The experience. You are a Data Scientist with several years industry experience developing machine learning models for production use. You have a track record of success building models that optimize time-consuming processes or generate real-world value. Ideally, you have worked in a B2B SaaS startup environment where you have generated value from text data.
  • The intuition. You love solving novel problems, learning about new approaches, and building off of work that others have done to create new solutions. You are continuously seeking answers to satisfy your curious nature. You view machine learning as part art and part science, and you want to use that knowledge and capability to drive positive change in the world. Bonus points if you are strongly product oriented.
  • The technical toolbox. You are deeply familiar with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. You have proven ability to build solutions using Python and SQL. You can learn new tools independently and quickly. Our tech stack consists of tools like Docker, DVC, HuggingFace, Pytorch, Pandas, Spacy, Ray, Triton, Flask - and the AWS cloud services. Any interest or proficiency in those tools or in MLOps is considered an advantage.
  • The education. You have a Bachelor or Graduate Degree in a related field or relevant experience with a scientific background. A Masters in Math, Computer Science or Statistics would be an advantage.
  • The accountability. You are purpose-driven with a desire to change the global trajectory when it comes to climate and deeply committed to our mission. You are genuinely excited to apply your talents in building our brand. You have the project management skills to balance competing priorities and deliver exceptional results. You have a willingness to persevere despite obstacles, the confidence to try and fail, and the humility to learn, grow and adapt.
  • The collaborative approach. You have the high degree of emotional intelligence and curiosity necessary to thrive in our self-managing environment. You embrace diverse perspectives and excel at building relationships. You are happy to jump in wherever and whenever needed.

If you feel you meet 70% of the qualifications we are looking for and are determined to make a difference, we encourage you to apply. We promise to consider your application fully.
