We are looking for a full-time Senior Data Systems Analyst to oversee, and participate in, the processes for accurate data collection, processing, modeling, and analysis of the school’s database systems.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Technical lead in the design, build, configuration, maintenance, capacity planning & security of the school’s database services, middleware & third-party applications that support academic, admissions, athletic and business needs;

 

Provide data modeling solutions that support strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities; document and recommend options that support business decisions, ensuring the identification of any business impacts, risks and mitigation strategies;

 

Monitor and assess the overall health and performance of the school’s database systems by proactively analyzing systems, logs, and exception reports to generate and support KPIs. Collaborate with IT team members to develop innovative solutions to meet needs identified by the KPIs;

 

Oversee and manage data in Ridley’s Student Information while ensuring the coordination and management of efficient data flow and essential integration across all the school’s data platforms;

 

Support the data recovery disaster plan ensuring there are regularly scheduled and performed database back-up and recovery operations; regularly review the data recovery policies and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement;

 

Monitor and maintain the security of database systems by writing procedures, functions and triggers to control the flow of data, monitoring logs and reviewing system access privileges, allocating disk space for users, creating and maintaining users, user permissions, system privileges, and passwords, and performing other administrative tasks at the operating system level;

 

Handle database incidences by delivering a resolution; perform cause analysis as well as recommend and implement preventative techniques and applicable corrective action plans;

 

Collaborate on and develop complex queries, ad-hoc forms and reports in support of department operations, requirements, and staff needs;

 

Develop and maintain adequate system-related documentation to facilitate implementation and/or adoption of system changes;

 

Design and conduct presentations regarding available data and data analysis techniques to school leaders, faculty, and staff to support the department’s vision of becoming a data informed organization;

 

 

Research industry standard guidelines and best practices for database and applications management; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, communities and annual conferences;

 

Work with vendors, consultants, and contractors to resolve issues when required;

 

Develop and regularly maintain vendor relationships to stay abreast of new products or product enhancements that will aid in the development and execution of the IT project roadmap;

 

Ensure the ongoing protection and integrity of the school’s information technology assets.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Post-secondary diploma or university degree in computer science or related discipline;

 

3+ years related experience performing database administration functions;

 

Strong scripting knowledge of visualization tools such as PowerBI;

 

At least one relevant industry certification/designation such as Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft SQL, etc., is preferred;

 

Advanced understanding of MS SQL Server, Advanced Analytics, Microsoft Azure Database products and Microsoft Office (Excel);

 

Proficient in one programming language (preferably Python with Pandas/NumPy experience);

 

Scripting experience with Powershell is an asset;

 

Previous experience in the administration of the Blackbaud application with a strong focus on Student Information System

 

Ability to perform complex research, analysis, and reporting of large datasets on a wide range of operational and programmatic subjects;

 

Hands on experience creating data dashboards, reports, and visualizations to highlight trends and strategic opportunities/progress;

 

Proven experience identifying potential data anomalies by performing regular data audits that check data integrity, quality, retention and backup;

 

Knowledge of project management methodologies/process such as requirements management, analysis and design, testing, implementation, deployment, change configuration, and management, etc.
