We have a full-time position for a Senior Financial Technology Business Manager in Calgary, Alberta

 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior FinTech Business Manager is a finance professional with a strong business acumen who thrives in an ever-changing working environment. The Senior FinTech Business Manager is responsible for business planning and analysis, development and optimization of our fintech solutions to maximize profit, and sourcing and managing business grants (funding / financing). This position requires someone with a strong financial acumen and a solid foundation in business analysis and planning. We are a fast-growing startup and this newly created position is ideal for an individual who loves solving new problems every day and has proven experience with change management.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role includes a broad range of financial and non-financial responsibilities including:

 

Business Planning

  • Collaborate with business leaders to develop a business plan and budget that supports the strategic objectives of the organization
  • Develop and analyze key performance indicators of the business against business objectives to support data-based decision making
  • Provide ongoing updates to the business plan in the form of a rolling monthly forecast
  • Coordinate and collaborate planning and forecasting activities with members of the parent company’s Forecasting, Planning & Analysis function
  • Provide proactive business analysis and support ad hoc requests as required

 

Fintech Solutions Management

  • Employ the company’s existing finance technology solutions to maximize their profitability and contribution to business objectives.
  • Develop business use cases for application of new fintech solutions to the company’s business
  • Work with vendors and business partners to negotiate and implement approved fintech initiatives
  • Keep abreast of emerging IT/business issues, trends, and assess the potential impact on the bottom line.
  • Investigate and pioneer solutions to problems and new revenue opportunities.

Business Grant Management

  • Identify business grants for which LodgeLink may qualify
  • Manage the drafting and submission of grant applications
  • In collaboration with the Business Unit Controller and other business leaders, manage the reporting requirements related to successful grants

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CFA designation is an asset.
  • Industry experience in fintech, IT startup or entrepreneurship is an asset.
  • Experience in developing and managing fintech solutions for a high-volume business.
  • Business grant application and management experience is an asset  
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative and agile environment
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with multiple ERP systems, reporting software, and advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, vlookups, etc.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience required with a minimum of 2 years leading teams / mentoring.
  • Skilled in financial modeling; working with data/calculations and reporting models
  • Ability to analyze a business/reporting process and identify and implement improvements through use of process and technology.
  • Strong knowledge of business functions: Finance, Sales, Technology and Operations.
  • Ability to understand the needs of multiple stakeholders within the business.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, reporting software tools. Strong attention detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and system related skills.
