As a Senior Quantum Engineer – Qubit Development at Photonic, you are an integral part of the silicon qubit development team where you will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of qubit architectures. In this position, you will collaborate closely with high-performing teams of product engineers and scientists, with expertise spanning from device physics to classical computer architecture and compilers. Leveraging your skills in quantum control, together we will develop, prototype, and implement key solutions for our silicon-based quantum computer architecture. You thrive on the excitement of mastering new technology and new science, while bringing your significant hands-on expertise, open mind, and creativity to tackle key challenges as we build the world’s first truly scalable quantum computing system.


WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

  • Design, test, and deploy techniques for high-fidelity control of silicon spin-photon interface qubits
  • Develop and execute scalable systems for local and teleported qubit operations
  • Perform demonstrations of integrated system performance
  • Analyze lab data, matching it with theoretical models to identify paths for improvements
  • Collaborate closely with the Photonic nanofabrication and materials development teams to integrate novel device designs with materials improvements for improved qubit performance
  • Write patents and peer-reviewed articles reporting advances where applicable
  • Train, guide, and develop current and new team members


WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

  • Masters or PhD in Experimental Quantum Information, Physics, Engineering, or related field
  • Postdoc or industry experience in quantum computing and/or quantum engineering
  • Experience working at the interface of spin physics and quantum information
  • Deep familiarity with one or more quantum computing platforms (e.g. ion traps, neutral atoms, defect centres, solid-state spins, superconducting qubits)
  • Experience performing optical and/or spin measurements
  • Proficiency in working with Python or other modern programming languages
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in rapidly changing research environment
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve engineering problems
  • Outstanding teamwork skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to relocate and work on site within the greater Vancouver, BC, Canada area (work permit support can be provided)

The base annual salary range for this full-time role is between $114,000 to $184,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside of this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's qualifications including relevant education and training, competencies, experience, geographic location, and business needs. Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
