SEO Specialist

Remote (Canada) Richmond, BC

We have a full-time opportunity for an SEO Specialist to join our Marketing Team.

This is a new role for our team and your position will play an essential part in driving our business's growth and success. You will build on your past experience to plan, implement, and manage our SEO strategy, working closely with PressReader's consumer and business growth teams as well as Creative Lab to manage the production of relevant assets and materials.


In this role, you will:

  • Perform in-depth SEO analysis, diagnose websites, report issues and make adjustments when needed
  • Recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking, and other factors to improve SEO visibility for target topics/keywords
  • Perform on-page SEO and off-page SEO
  • Work on SEO tasks including page speed optimization, schema markup, and image optimization
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented on legacy and in-development websites
  • Work with editorial and marketing teams to drive SEO in content creation and content programming
  • Develop and implement link building strategy


You are a great fit if you have:

  • 3-5 years in a similar SEO role with a strong background with data and data analysis
  • Experience using SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog) and Google product (Google Search Console, Google Analytics)
  • Experience working with JavaScript-heavy web apps and PWAs
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and related web languages
  • Basic web development knowledge (hosting, domains, FTP and databases)
  • Expertise in both content-focused and technical SEO including knowledge of the latest trends and best practices
  • Solid understanding of SEO trends: semantic search, EAT, BERT, rich snippets, voice search
  • Backlink research and solicitation experience
  • Knowledge of indexing/ranking factors and search engine algorithms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude and you do not take yourself too seriously


Bonus points if you:

  • Have experienced practicing SEO on large websites (e.g. 1M+ pages)
  • Have ASO (app store optimization) experience
  • Have worked with enterprise grade SEO/ASO tools such Botify, DeepCrawl and AppAnnie
  • Are an avid consumer of news media and you believe in the value of journalism
  • Have a strong interest in the technology sector


This role is a full‐time position open for remote work anywhere in Canada (or on-site at our office in Richmond, BC). Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada.
