Please include a cover letter with your resume (in one file) describing how you would be a great fit at Photonic and what attributes you could bring to our growing team.
The Systems Engineer: Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAMs) at Photonic is a specialist role within our Research and Development team. Your primary focus will be to optimize operational systems, reduce product lifecycle costs, and lower demand for logistics by easing product support and enhancing overall system performance. As our RAMs SE your aim will be to develop calculations, process, and procedures, and to inform system requirements, resulting in systems that last longer, require less support, and overall increase the return on investments of our cryogenic assets. Your efforts will ensure that our critical assets sustain a high operational cadence.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
- Conduct standards analysis including Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM, RMA) analysis, Sparing analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Create models and tools in support of conducting expedient analysis.
- Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Procedures and Troubleshooting Procedures. Including preparation of artifacts for inclusion in technical publications.
- Consult with engineering to implement improved operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions, ensuring improvements/fixes are implemented consistently across systems.
- Interface with multiple teams within our R&D department, fostering strong relationships and acting as a key connection point.
- Assess product designs and recommend design modifications to eliminate or reduce operator errors or system malfunctions.
- Conduct planning and assessments to ensure critical spares and parts are managed in accordance with utilization needs.
- Generate maintenance plans and schedules aimed at optimizing availability of critical assets.
- Conduct root cause investigations and report on recommendations for resolution. This includes leading problem investigations that require command and control of multi-disciplinary task forces.
- Collect and validate mean time between failure (MTBF) data from original equipment manufacturers and produce the same for Photonic systems, including harvesting field data.
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the operation or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with various stakeholders to support collaborative efforts.
- Maintain an overarching view of project and team dynamics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- Post-secondary education (Bachelors, Masters or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, or in relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with complex, high-reliability systems maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of product and process optimization complex systems
- Outstanding teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Exceptional candidates will have one or more of:
- Experience with cryogenic system design, operation, or maintenance
- Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks and Flotherm
- Experience with coding languages (e.g., MATLAB or Python)
- Experience with vacuum or cryogenic measurement systems
- Experience troubleshooting complex experimental systems
