The Opportunity:


We are seeking a talented UX Researcher to join our rapidly growing team to help us with our goal of creating a waste-free future. This role reports to the Lead UX/UI Designer and will focus on evolving our baseline understanding of our customers, uncovering insights for our UX team to design user-led experiences, and driving the future of our customer experience and product design.


The Responsibilities:

  • Continually work with and gather research requirements from stakeholders across the organization to identify and evaluate research topics
  • Strategize, plan, and implement comprehensive research programs that meet the short-term and long-term goals and objectives for multiple projects/business units
  • Conduct primary and secondary research for both digital and physical products including, but not limited to: user interviews, moderated and unmoderated usability testing, card sorting, eye-tracking and click testing, multivariate testing, desirability studies, surveys, diary studies, participatory design workshops, and other ethnographic research activities
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data
  • Synthesize and communicate evidence-based insights and trends to drive product innovation and design improvements for users
  • Encourage a more empathetic organization by discussing research findings with audiences across the organization to socialize a common understanding of our customers through written and oral presentations
  • Consult on and advocate for our customers in business and design decisions
  • Work with UX Designers to create self-serve research artifacts for teams across the organization to use in decision-making
  • Create research playbooks and methodology documentation
  • Provide training and mentorship to internal UX team members in tool usage, methodology, and user research best practices
  • Organize and maintain a research repository
  • Communication and collaboration are key in this role. You can communicate effectively with people inside and outside the technology team to ensure a shared understanding of our customers.


Qualifications:

  • Empathy, humility, and cross-team collaborative spirit
  • Logical and detail-oriented
  • 2+ years of UX research work
  • Formal education in a human behaviour related field (or equivalent and demonstrable work experience)
  • Social sciences (psychology, anthropology, sociology, communications, economics, etc.)
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Statistics
  • User Experience Design or a related field
  • Ability to plan, design experiments, and self-lead research activities
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills—you're exceptional at communicating research through storytelling
  • Strong listening and analytical skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience recognizing and removing bias from research activities
  • Experience with remote testing tools
  • Proven experience as a strong UX team member. You can tackle complex research challenges and transform them into actionable insights.
  • Excellent and authoritative (while humble) people management skills to influence business decisions
  • Experience with user research tools that you can recommend and manage
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates your ability to plan research activities and translate findings into actionable insights for design teams. We are excited to see what you can do and have done in the past.

Salary: 75000-85000 CAD depending on experience
