Video Network Engineer

CityWest Terrace, BC

Nature of Work:

This position performs the tasks relating to the installation, quality control, and maintenance of all analog and digital head-end equipment, wireless technology, and NOC monitoring for all sites within CityWest.

Principle Accountabilities:

➢Performs head-end calibration, performance tests, and field system performance tests.

➢Performs Satellite dish, LNB and receiver alignments.

➢Digital channel alignments and coordinate with NASRAC, RGB and Motorola

➢Installation, setup, and maintenance of CATV, IPTV and VOD equipment

➢Perform system monitoring and provide technical guidance within a Network Operations Center(NOC) environment

➢Monitor Hydro Power and Air Conditioning systems

➢Performed routing and switching troubleshooting and configuration (VLAN, VLAN Trunking,Multicast, OSPF, BGP & MPLS)

➢Ensures compliance of system leakage and monitoring requirements in the head end throughdetection and maintenance.

➢Recognizes, practices, and enforces safety rules and procedures when performing technical tasks.

➢Perform standby duties on non-business hours.

➢Occasional overtime may be required.

➢Occasionally assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge and Skills:

➢Grade 12 of equivalent

➢Formal electronics and computer training and/or self-study course work in CATV is required.

➢Working knowledge of Video On-Demand Systems, CATV and IPTV

➢Working knowledge of Digital Head End systems

➢Working knowledge of routing and switching protocols (TCP/IP/UDP, VLAN & Truncking,OSPF, BGP, MPLS and wireless technology)

➢Fiber Splicing and cabling

➢CCDP, CCNP, JNCIP certification or equivalent

➢Class 5 Driver’s license

➢Motivated and capable of working in stressful situations.
