Reporting to the Development Manager, this role will be responsible for leading development on all Magento based e-commerce websites for new and existing clients, providing technical leadership on Adobe products to our team of developers, and overseeing projects through all phases, from planning through to launch. You are ultimately responsible and accountable for the efficient and effective delivery of our Magento development projects to our clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Define Magento development best practices at Think Shift
  • Help setup development, staging and production environments for new and existing clients.
  • Consult with current and prospective clients to define ideal online experiences.
  • Participate in daily meetings with internal team of front-end developers
  • Oversee deliverables from the partner network of developers
  • Brainstorm creative solutions based on marketing strategies and client requirements
  • Create and communicate user experience deliverables such as sitemaps, user stories, and specifications
  • Provide accurate estimates for development tasks based on the known requirements
  • Test websites across multiple browsers and devices for issues with functionality, presentation, and performance
  • Create and host training sessions for client websites
  • Provide developer support to existing websites


Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a front-end developer in PHP based platforms
  • 3+ years of experience working on the Magento e-commerce platform
  • Strong understanding of HTML semantics and SEO best practices
  • Strong understanding of front-end performance best practices and testing
  • Experience using version control systems in a team setting
  • Experience using Atlassian products Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence
  • Knowledge of user experience best practices and WCAG accessibility guidelines considered an asset

  • Manage their hours with a focus on detail to ensure quality is consistently delivered
  • Show a genuine passion for technology and teamwork
  • Be a problem solver: both technically and professionally. We are in search of someone who can be tasked with an issue and follow it through from start to finish.
  • Be able to regularly set and communicate expectations with co-workers and meet those expectations
  • Have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical team members and clients effectively and confidently
  • Able to elicit, infer, and understand client requirements and how they translate in application features, architectures and deliverable assets and deliver prescriptive advice when clients are unsure
  • Collaborate with teams that span many disciplines, subject matter areas, and experience levels to deliver solutions
  • Work within established project timelines and effectively communicate changes to those timelines
  • Passion for the future of web development and the latest industry trends


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in computer science/web design (or equivalent combination of education and experience

Remote Work Requirements

To be considered for this role the candidate must be able to attend meetings within the CST time zone that Think Shift operates in. Preference will be given to Canadian Residents.
